Bunaíodh Coláiste na Tríonóide, Baile Átha Cliath i 1592 le cairt ollscoile ón mBanríon Éilis I ar shuíomh a chuir Bardas Bhaile Átha Cliath ar fáil. Leathnaigh Coláiste na Tríonóide sna céadta ina dhiaidh sin, agus ollscoil nuaaimseartha atá ann anois ina bhfuil 15,600 mac léinn agus 3,700 ball foirne. Tá Coláiste na Tríonóide ar cheann d’ollscoileanna móra an domhain anois, agus aithnítear go forleathan ardcháilíocht a chéimithe, seasamh idirnáisiúnta a thaighde agus a léinn, agus chomh tábhachtach agus atá sé don choláiste a bheith ag cur le sochaí na hÉireann agus an domhain níos leithne. Tá an Lárionad Léann Teanga & Cumarsáide (CLCS), atá mar chuid de Scoil na nEolaíochtaí Teangeolaíochta, Urlabhra agus Cumarsáide, mar ionad taighde teangeolaíochta, teangeolaíochta feidhmí, taighde foghlama an dara teanga, foghraíochta agus eolaíochta urlabhra, agus cuireann an fhoireann teagasc ar fáil ag leibhéil fochéime agus iarchéime. Tá go leor dár gcúrsaí ar fáil do mhic léinn ar cuairt agus do mhic léinn malartaithe freisin. Bhí ról lárnach ag CLCS freisin ó thaobh forbairtí nua a phíolótú, laistigh den Choláiste agus lasmuigh den Choláiste, ar bhonn comhairleach, i dteagasc teanga, i dteicneolaíochtaí nua a fheidhmiú maidir le foghlaim teanga, i dteagasc agus tuiscint Comharthaíochta Teanga, agus i dteagaisc an Bhéarla mar an dara teanga do dhídeanaithe fásta agus do dhaltaí i mbunscoileanna agus in iarbhunscoileanna nach labhraíonn Béarla.
